Best window: Mar–May (northern hemisphere) — after your last frost, before summer heat — near bloom or just after fruit set.

Best window: Feb–Mar (northern hemisphere) — when the buds swell in late winter, about 3-4 weeks before your last killing frost.
- How to prune a flowering shrub →
Best window: Mar–Jun (northern hemisphere) — late winter for new-wood bloomers, right after the flowers fade for old-wood ones.
